Dan Lungren votes to bring foreign nuclear waste to U.S.
In a recent House vote, Rep. Dan Lungren voted with 110 of his fellow Republicans and a single Democrat against a ban on nuclear waste imports. The final vote was 309-112. The Ledger-Dispatch has the story including this quote from a Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee spokesperson.
"With all of his recent talk about national security, Congressman Lungren never mentioned his support for the importation of potentially toxic and dangerous nuclear waste from foreign countries," said Andrew Stone, a committee spokesman. "In fact, with his service on the Homeland Security committee and his law-and-order background, Dan Lungren should know better than to permit dangerous foreign nuclear waste to travel through our communities and be stored in the United States."
Lungren's actions, his support of importing "potentially dangerous" and even deadly nuclear waste, brings into serious question his committment to the people of the United States, and particularly to the Third Congressional District. The sole beneficiary of this action would have been a single disposal site in Utah. Just makes you wonder who Lungren represents.
It is far past time to put Lungren out of office and elect a representative who will truly represent the people of CD-03. In 2010, we will have the opportunity to make the change necessary by electing Dr. Ami Bera to serve us in congress.
