A Race to Watch: Amador School Board and Superintendent Must Resign
Believe it or not, one of the most exciting down ballot local races to watch this election season may be for the Amador Co. School Board. The school board and superintendent in Amador woefully unqualified and in over their heads. To top it off, their ineptitude has embroiled them in a discrimination case that may result in a Department of Justice investigation. They are helplessly stuck in the past. And I don’t mean the recent past, like the 80’s or 90’s, but back in the 60’s – in the deep south, before civil rights. They are so far out of touch that at a recent board meeting Barry Broad, an attorney who represents the Jewish Federation of the Sacramento Region was quoted as telling the board,
“You may think you can do whatever you want because you’re out here in Amador County, but I’m afraid you also belong to the wide, wide world – and the rules that apply there also apply to you. I feel like introducing myself by saying, ‘hello, I’m visiting this board tonight from the United States of America.’”
